I have been working the supplements into my practice, a few at a time, so I can assess how they affect people, what side effects might show up and how to use them effectively. So far I have been very impressed with Cardiac Px Capsules. I wasn't sure that I really could assure a patient who had tachycardia for several years and did not respond to beta blockers and other antiarrythimia drugs that this herbal supplement would help her, so I was cautious in my recommendation of it, and was as surpised as she was when it controlled her tachycardia with three pills a day within two weeks! She has been unable to tolerate thyroid medications despite severe hypothyroidism for this reason, and we are thrilled that she is now able to tolerate WT3 and does not have (so far) any increase in heart rate as she is ramping up on her first cycle. She is on doses now that she could not have tolerated without the Cardiac Px Capsules. ThyroCare has been a big help too, in stabilizing temperature "swings" even prior to starting the WT3 treatment. I usually start patients on ThyroCare right away. The ones that have chosen not to, or have started later have more unsteadiness, even when taking the medications on time. Narrowing the gap between temperatures during the course of a day, even if the temperature is below normal, makes for a more even and smooth rise with fewer side effects as one cycles up on SRT3. ThyroCare seems to help achieve this. Adaptogen is also a great help for the very very fatigued, stressed out super achiever. They are the patients who have been running on adrenalin, fear and cortisol when their thyroid ran out, then started using caffeine after that. While a complete hormonal panel is part of my workup, and appropriate hormone replacement is added as needed, I find Adaptogen a helpful calming boost to the overstressed patient with Chronic Fatigue and Adrenal burnout. Have taken the supplements for almost a month now, I've noticed that my skin and hair are not as dry as they were. The ridges in my nails are improving, and pain of carpel tunnel syndrome and muscular aches are less. In the beginning, my temperature got lower. I was quite worried when it was 95.8 for a couple of days. After reading in one of your newsletters that it was okay to take two tablets instead of one as recommended on the bottle, I increased my intake. My temperature has been rising slowly ever since. As I have always had a low body temperature and have 3 of the 4 ancestries listed, I'm sure it will take a little longer to feel completely better. It is very interesting that most MD's I've spoken to about this are very closed to the idea. My pets' vet has a doctorate in endocrinology and this made perfect sense to her. Too bad she can't treat humans! Although I haven't found a doctor who will work with me on the T3 therapy, I am finding relief with the supplements. Anita B.

You know, I just now realized that I have not had a headache since I began taking WTSmed Supplements. I have to take Maxalt to get rid of them. I am not into chemicals and drugs but I have continued to take maxalt because of the terrible migraines. I have not even had a "niggle". A niggle is our family word for that one spot in the head that gives us the forewarning of a migraine. My daughter and I have both suffered from them. I have read and visited your website for a few years now. So I took the plunge and ordered your supplements, [and] I have noticed improvements. The stress at my job right now is out of hand and I believe the WTS ThyroCare, Adaptogen and Healthy Foundation are the key things right now that have stopped me from giving up. I can still get up and go to work without anxiety and panic. ... Woohoo!! Brandy Sue

I am on the maximum dosage of T3 and my body temperature has not stablized, so I've started the weaning stage in order to begin a new cycle. Yesterday was the very first day of decreasing my dosage and I was miserable and very fatigued. I am concerned that I will feel this way during the entire process of weaning off the medicine. Is there anything I can do? The weaning process will take a mimimum of 22 days, and that is a long time to feel like I did before. Is it okay to speed up the weaning process so that I won't be miserable for such a long time period? Darlene G.

Dear Darlene, Stress in life can often bring on WTS. When patients are under the same amount of stress that brought on their WTS, it can sometimes be hard for them to maintain their progress as they wean off (you can click here for more information). Sometimes, when patients start to wean off T3 Therapy, just changing the dose can contribute to T3 unsteadiness which might respond well to a T4 Test Dose. Furthermore, patients who have trouble weaning off the WT3 protocol often find that they are able to maintain their temperatures as they wean by adding ThyroCare to their regimen. Generally, it is best to wean slowly enough that the temperature doesn't drop. When patients are feeling badly during the weaning process it's usually because they are weaning off too quickly instead of too slowly. Patients can decelerate the weaning process in an effort to prevent their temperatures from dropping. You can click here for more information. Finally, your doctor can call for free technical support regarding your particular case by calling 800-420-5801 to make an appointment. I hope that helps, Denis Wilson, MD

After reading your material it sounds just like me. I have been on thyroid meds for at least 30 years but still have most of the symptoms that they should fix. I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia and now wonder if it's just the thyroid problem you talk about. I have been taking my temp for a few days and while the first 2 readings are definitely very low my temp does come up to normal on the 3rd time. Is that good enough? Or is it the average that's more important? Thanks, Cheryl

Dear Cheryl, Yes, it is the average we go by. When patients' average temperatures are low (even if now and then their temperatures get up to normal or above) they often feel much better when their temperature patterns are raised to average normal. Best wishes, Denis Wilson, MD

...do I take my temperature readings orally or under the arm? Thank you, Kathi

We recommend that the temperature readings be taken orally. To minimize variation we also recommend trying to measure the temperatures in the same place in the mouth each time while trying not to move it very much (so as not to stimulate increased blood flow to the area). It also makes sense to try and leave the thermometer in for about the same period of time for each measurement. Warmly, Denis Wilson, MD
