I am curious to know if it is possible to have hypothyroid and Wilson's [Temperature] Syndrome at the same time? I was treated for Wilson's before on T3 and did fantastic. But I cannot locate a doctor close enough to me to get treatment again. The doctor I see now is wonderful but is treating me with Armour Thyroid. It worked for a little while but now I am at double the dose and still feel awful. I have been to other doctors who have tested me for just about everything under the sun and it all comes back negative. Any suggestions?

Yes, it's definitely possible to have WTS and hypothyroidism at the same time. What you describe about feeling well on T3 but not Armour is common. Chapter 5 of the Doctor's Manual (just 7 pages) explains how patients often respond to T4-containing medicines such as Armour. Many patients respond better to the WT3 protocol. I suggest you check the List of WTS Physicians now for doctors. You can also suggest to your doctor that he read the online Doctor's Manual and let him know that he is free to call 800-420-5801 to access free tech support with a doctor regarding your case. Warmly, Denis Wilson, MD

Is itchy, crawling skin and low white blood count a symptom of WTS? Felicia San Clemente, CA

Itchiness is a common complaint though I don't recall a patient describing crawling skin nor are low white blood counts common. Nevertheless, low body temperatures can cause a wide variety of complaints in different people. Many times I have seen symptoms resolve that people wouldn't necessarily associate with low body temperature or low thyroid function. For me, it has gotten to the point that if patients have low body temperatures and have no likely explanation for their complaints it's at least possible that those complaints might improve with normalization of body temperatures. Body temperature is such a fundamental parameter of body function that an abnormality there could conceivably contribute to almost any symptom. In other words, the body temperature is very important to body function. If the temperature is low and the body is not functioning as well, then almost any symptom that the body is prone to might get worse. Nevertheless, another name for low white blood counts is Neutropenia. You can click here for more information about it. Neutropenia can be due to B12 and Folate deficiencies as well as other causes, it is advisable to discuss it with your physician if you haven't already. Kind regards, Denis Wilson, MD

I am a 43 year old woman and I have been reading your newsletters for the last months with great interest. I am sure I have a slow metabolism because I have all the symptoms but nothing is wrong with my blood tests so the doctors keep telling me I am well. I would like to test my body temperature but we use Celsius here (Norway) - what is the reference area for low body temperature in Celsius?

Temperatures less that 37 degrees Celsius can explain symptoms. Even more suggestive are temperatures less than 36.6 degrees Celsius. Warmly, Denis Wilson, MD

The Patient Guide explains a lot about how to approach your physician. The Guide explains the best way to present the doctor with the CD and/or our web address. The CD is an excellent tool to introduce doctors to the treatment. Doctors can listen to the CD's at their own convenience like on their drive home from the office. You can give your doctor www.wtsmed.com as an address since it's shorter. Or you can invite them to call 800-420-5801 for free tech support, and more information on our supplements and the WT3 protocol. Hope that helps, Denis Wilson, MD
