I don't know exactly how to explain it, but I have noticed an incredible improvement in my condition since I started taking the WTS supplements. Most specifically, I've been taking Adaptogen, and Healthy Foundation for some months now. For about three years I've been on Armour Thyroid 120mg., but now my doctor has reduced it to 90 mg. Just to test your supplements, I went off them for a few weeks, and most of my complaints seemed to return--fatigue, extra weight, etc. I don't understand how this works, but it does. Thank you so much. ++ Liza S., Los Angeles, CA P.S. I believe you guys have mentioned that this syndrome also affects the cholesterol level? It elevates it. What can be done to effectively reduce the cholesterol without taking drugs for it? My diet is good, and I eat small amounts since I am petite (112 lbs.)

I started taking the supplements (ThyroCare) [about a month ago], one, three times a day...and have noticed considerable changes, including my body temperature returning to normal, weight loss, and I am metabolizing my food much better. Also many other [complaints] that I had are disappearing. Best Regards, Joan-Marie Germany

I am currently on T3, have been for about 5yrs and feel it has greatly improved my health in general. I now sleep reasonable hours, have few allergy problems and feel good most of the time. Also, I'm a much nicer person whereas before "I had no fuse." Whenever I become aware of someone who seems to demonstrate symptoms of thyroid dysfunction, I suggest they take their temperature for a week or two and if low I suggest they consider learning more about Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. I feel the treatment program is very effective and easy to follow.

When doing a T4 test dose can one use Armour Thyroid? I was on Armour Thyroid before starting T3. I have never taken Synthroid.

Armour is not very suitable for a T4 test dose because it contains T3 and the the T3 it contains is instant release. Therefore, the Armour can provide a destabilizing surge of T3. So whereas a T4 test dose is intended as a stabilizing influence on a person's thyroid system, the T3 in the Armour can be destabilizing. Best wishes, Denis Wilson, MD

How often should I be receiving a WTS Newsletter? Is there a saliva test for T3 deficiency? Thank you, Debby M.

The WTS Newsletter goes out weekly. We don't recommend a saliva test because we feel WTS is undiagnosable even with blood tests. The diagnosis is based on ruling out other likely explanations for the symptoms, checking for low body temperatures, and seeing how patients respond to therapeutic trials of the treatment. Hope that helps, Denis Wilson, MD

If you have had a hypothyroid condition for 10+ years that has not been treated, can you develop joint pain?

 |

Absolutely. Joint pain can come on very quickly with low body temperatures. Hoping you feel better soon, Denis Wilson, MD

Hello, I have taken my temperature and have known for at least 11 years on average it was 97. I thought because my mother often complained of her temp being 96/97 that was the norm for me also. By accident I found out about Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. I insisted that my doctor put me on your T3 medication and he has done so with 3 refills. My question to you is how long can I stay on this wonderful T3. I feel so good and most of my long time symptoms go away when I stay on this medication, and how long can I continue to get the T3 medication.

Most patients find that they are able to wean off T3 after a period of months and are able maintain their temperatures on their own. However, some patients do stay on the medicine longer (in some cases to let their bodies more fully recover and perhaps to help them maintain their temperatures through difficult periods of their lives so that they have less of a chance of relapsing), sometimes a couple of years. One young man who was born without thyroid function was actually raised on T3 with no apparent difficulty. Warmly, Denis Wilson, MD
