WTS Newsletter: "lost 7 pounds without doing anything different"
Dear Friends,

There are several legal criteria that designate a treatment as "standard of care" medicine. T3 therapy qualifies as standard of care medicine.

So far I've completed 1 cycle and begin the second one in 5 days time . Before the first cycle my temperature averaged 97.2 now 98.0 . I sleep better and have lost about 7 pounds (about 30 pounds overweight) without doing anything different.
Keep up the good work
Warmest Regards......Michael

I started the WT3 protocol with a doctor about a month ago. I have already cycled up and down on the T-3 and am starting my second round of increasing the T-3. I feel much better. I am confident that I have been troubled by this in earlier life, a number of times. I am glad to finally have a remedy. This is a relief, I was starting to chalk it up to old age, though I am only 39. I have spent much time and $$ trying to handle my ailments in other ways, with modest to no results.

Yes I have seen some improvements. My temperature has come up, not quite normal but getting close. I don't feel as tired all the time and I generally just feel better, not normal but I think I'm getting there. I have been taking Adaptogen and ThyroCare.

Thank you,
Lee P.

I'm in the range of 98.2 - 98.5 temp at 60 mg, my first cycle of T3. I'll be staying at this level for several days before tiering down gradually to start my second cycle. I don't notice any dramatic improvements, but I wasn't feeling bad before. However, I'm continuing to gain weight, faster than I ever have before, and without increasing my daily calories. I'm exercising about 3-4 times a week, just like before I started. What else could be going on? K.M.

Dear K.M.,

It's very uncommon for people to gain weight while on T3 therapy. Nevertheless, the number one side effect of T3 therapy is fluid retention and a little fluid retention can explain a lot of weight (especially fast weight).

Fluid retention seems related to unsteady T3 levels. One way to minimize unsteady T3 levels is to take the T3 exactly on time to the minute, not even 3 minutes late. The source of T3 can also be important since not all pharmacists have the same state of the art equipment or expertise as others (if you think this might be a factor, you could try using Medaus Pharmacy for a time to see if you can tell any difference.

You might also talk to your doctor about investigating whether you might be experiencing "unsteady T3 levels" by trying a T4 Test Dose.

Having said all that, weight can be an unpredictable symptom to manage. It's reasonable to think that any symptom that could improve with T3 therapy could also get worse with T3 therapy depending on how the treatment is going. The fact that your weight is getting worse could actually be a good sign that you're on the right track and that it's just a matter of getting the treatment managed so that it's working out well for you and moving in the right direction.

I have a condition referred to as Raynauds Syndrome (cold hands). I have a suspicion that it is thyroid instead. I do not get cold in the summer. This condition seems to run in my family (all of them are women except me. I am the only male with this problem). All of the women, my grandma, mom and sister all have low thyroid. My doctor does not believe that men have thyroid problems. Would ThyroCare help my type of condition?

Thank you - Dan

Dear Dan,

I have definitely seen Raynaud's respond to normalizing of the body temperature with the WT3 protocol (thyroid medicine). And ThyroCare is indicated in patients with low body temperatures as and adjunctive herbal support of the thyroid gland.

It would be interesting to see how well the ThyroCare helps you. Please let us know should you elect to try it.

Warmly,
Denis Wilson, MD

I have worried I may be hypothyroid, and after I found your website, I brought it to the endocrinologist visit. He thinks there is more reason to believe I am hyperthyroid because I do not tolerate heat well. I explained my temperatures are usually around 96.7-97.5 but that didn't seem to factor into his thinking. I am still awaiting results from blood and urine tests. If I am hyperthyroid, can I still benefit from a T3 therapy?

Many patients with low body temperatures experience cold intolerance, but interestingly, some experience heat intolerance that responds well to normalization of their body temperatures with the WT3 protocol.

So I would guess that you are not hyperthyroid because WTS is more common than hyperthyroidism (but you and your doctor can see what the tests reveal). Nevertheless, some people do have hyperthyroidism and WTS at the same time (high T4, low TSH, low body temperatures).

ThyroCalm Px is a unique formula that is designed to promote healthy thyroid function. You and your physician can call 800-420-5801 for more information.

Also, it seems that you've asked a fairly outlandish question: "Can a hyperthyroid patient benefit from T3 therapy." So it seems fitting that you receive a fairly outlandish answer. Though conventional thinking would suggest that the last thing a hyperthyroid patient needs is more T3, I have heard of a hyperthyroid patient responding well to T3 therapy. Apparently, the extra T3 somehow suppressed the person's own thyroid gland function, putting it to rest, and helping the person's thyroid function normalize.

Normally, however, people with hyper-functioning of the thyroid gland can be treated medically before addressing their WTS. People with hyper-functioning thyroid glands can also be supported with ThyroCalm.

There are a lot of possibilities to consider and your physician can call 800-420-5801 for a free consultation with a physician regarding your case.

Best regards,
Denis Wilson, MD
