Thank you, it is working! My temps are almost always up to normal now since being on [T3], through Dr. Lucking, and I am on my 4th week. After a lifetime of chronic fatigue, Excedrin, and supplements, a layering of better health is happening.

I started taking Adaptogen and ThyroCare on Dec. 16th. Two of each two times a day. Have had a very stressful holiday season and am short of sleep so I was worried that the supplements wouldn't be able to do their job with all the stress I've been under. I've been too busy to even take my temperature until today. Was I ever surprised to see my noontime temperature at 98.3!!!!!!!!!!! I was a child the last time my normal temperature was over 98. When I ordered the supplements my temp was averaging 97. At noon it was never higher than 95.3.

Since taking the supplements I haven't had a single one of those horrible flu-like days where I had to take to my bed, not even with the stress of the holidays, losing sleep and shopping in malls!! (For years every time I would shop in a mall I'd be flat out sick in bed for days afterward recuperating.) I suspected a chemical sensitivity, but maybe getting my thyroid system more balanced has made the chemicals less overwhelming. I do feel better, not quite 100% yet, but seeing that my temperature has gone up as much as it has I will continue with them.

Since I have been on the WTS protocol I have lost 11 lbs. With the holidays it has now varied a little & with sleep problems, I end up eating during one of my frequent wakings.

However, my question is this. Does the weight usually stay off as the "true you" is found? My clothes are baggy & I have to determine whether to take them in & give some away as well as buy new.

Although my hope and goal has been to get rid of cold feet & other symptoms, the losing of weight without "dieting" has been a blessing.

There tends to be a significant difference between dieting weight off while the temperature remains low, and getting it off while the temperature is normal. A low temperature is an indicator of a slow metabolism, and dieting can often make a slow metabolism slower so that people tend to gain the weight back and then some.

On the other hand, a normal temperature is an indicator of a normal metabolism. When people are able to normalize their low temperatures, their metabolisms are more normal than when they started, so they tend to keep the weight off.

Nevertheless, weight does not always behave predictably as a symptom. Some people lose a lot of weight easily and keep it off, while others might get their temperatures up and still have trouble losing, while others might have trouble keeping their temperature normal after treatment (for example, because of stress) and have trouble keeping the weight off.

The idea is to wean off the protocol slowly during a time of low stress to maximize the chances that the body temperature stays normal.

What relationship can thyroid, smoking, and fatigue have in common, if any? Have people noticed less desire to smoke after starting on WTS therapy?  
 
     
 

Definitely.

When people have low thyroid system function their temperatures can drop. When their temperatures drop they can experience severe fatigue. This fatigue tends to increase their desire or cravings for stimulants and fuel. People with low temperatures tend to crave cigarettes, chocolate, coffee, tea, alcohol, and drugs.

When the temperatures are normalized their energy tends to return and their cravings tend to diminish, sometimes disappearing.

Yes, a normal temperature can make a world of difference to many who are struggling with substance abuse.

I have half a lobe left on my thyroid. I am having muscle cramps in my feet, legs, neck that are very painful. Hands and feet almost feel arthritic. I did not hurt like this until I had thyroid surgery. Is there any correlation between having my thyroid removed and the muscle cramps, and is there something I could take to help? At this time I'm not taking any prescription for my thyroid. I was taking thyrocare and adaptogen but I'm out of both. My temperature is low, normal is 96.8 sometimes 97.2.  
 
     
 

Yes,

Low body temperatures can easily explain muscle and joint aches. People more frequently describe muscular aches than muscle cramps. I agree that your muscle cramps coming on for the first time after your thyroid was removed makes it more likely they are related.

You can also notice whether you have any other low thyroid symptoms that seemed to worsen since then as well. If your muscle cramps seem to worsen at the same time other low temperature symptoms worsen it is more likely that your muscle cramps are due to low body temperatures.

Also, you might notice that your muscle cramps tend to follow your temperature patterns. For example, your cramps might tend to be worse in the morning when temperatures tend to be lower, better in the afternoon when temperatures tend to be higher, and worse again in the evening when temperatures tend to be lower again.
