My problem began when I quit smoking 4 years ago. I started gaining weight. I tried to lose weight on my own, but to no avail. I went to a weight loss clinic and started their program. They kept telling me that I must be cheating because I wasn't losing weight and I was not in ketosis. After 6 months of staying on one program of 800 calories a day, I lost 4 pounds. Discouraged and very depressed I went to an endocrinologist for help. My thyroid was under active and I was given Synthroid. A year later I was even more depressed, constantly tired, headaches every day and still overweight. I talked to my doctor. He told me I would just have to live with myself as I was, overweight and tired. I told him I refused to live the rest of my life the way I felt. He told me I needed to see a psychiatrist to help me accept the way I was. This caused me to feel even more hopeless, depressed and discouraged. I even felt I must be going crazy. Every night for months I cried myself to sleep, growing more and more despondent. Fortunately, I found out about Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. In just a few short weeks of beginning [the WT3 protocol], I was beginning to feel less fatigued and the depression was lifting. In just a couple of months, I lost 40 pounds, and even more important, the fatigue was gone. Depression, fatigue, and headaches are no longer a part of my day. I eagerly face each new day with energy and a positive outlook. I am so thankful...I have truly been given a new lease on life.

I have a mild case of WTS--an average temp of 98.3. I've just started taking Thyrocare and Healthy Foundation 4 days ago, and have already seen improvements.

Is a blood test result showing low TSH a sign of hyperthyroidism? Can T3 therapy be used if a person has low TSH or hyperthyroidism? Ruth

Dear Ruth, A low TSH, or Thyroid Stimulating Hormone level, suggests hyperthyroidism. In hyperthyroidism the body makes less TSH because it senses an oversupply of thyroid hormone. It's true that people can have Wilson's Temperature Syndrome and Hyperthyroidism at the same time. In other words, they can have low TSH, and an overactive thyroid and they can still have low body temperatures. This suggests that even though they are making excessive amounts of thyroid hormones, they are not having the effect they should, probably because of impaired conversion of T4 to T3. In such cases, the hyperthyroidism would normally be addressed first, and the WTS addressed afterward. You might be interested to learn more about ThyroCalm Px and ThyroCalm Px Topical. Hope that helps, Denis Wilson, MD

I've been afraid to try this protocol due to the racing heart feeling. I had it real bad on Armour thyroid meds one time. The doctor told me that my adrenal glands could not support the thyroid meds at that point in my life. That was two years ago and my stress load is way down and I believe my adrenals are well rested now. Will WT3 race my heart? Jeff

Dear Jeff, Yes, some people that take T3 therapy notice an increased heart rate and / or palpitations. Yes, adrenal fatigue can make it harder to tolerate T3 as well. Fortunately, many people with adrenal problems feel better with rest, stress-reduction, and adrenal support such as Adaptogen, Adrenal Px Balance, Adrenal Px DHEA, Adrenal Px LoBP. Also, many people find Cardiac Px Capsules, and Cardiac Px Titrate very helpful in supporting normal cardiac function. They are designed to be taken in conjunction with the WT3 protocol. Some patients don't tolerate Armour very well because the T3 it contains is "instant release." Many people who don't do well on Armour tolerate sustained release T3 quite well. Best wishes, Denis Wilson, MD

I have taken ThyroCare for about 3 years. It has helped me a lot, especially with sleeping. I take 1 each morning, noon and evening, sometimes before bedtime. Would I get better results by taking 2 at a time twice a day rather than as I have been? I really have learned a lot by reading all the questions and your answers to people who write in. I have your books. Thank you for helping me on this journey. Sandra

Dear Sandra Some people do notice an improvement when they increase the amount of ThyroCare they take. Yes, it's fine to take ThyroCare in twice a day intervals. Best wishes on your road to recovery :-)) Denis Wilson, MD
